5 Ways to Cure Exercise Boredom

1. Have Some Fun - Workouts don't have to be done in a gym. Get involved in other activities that involve physical activity, such as mountain biking, hiking, or other sports.

2. Switch It Up - Vary the times you exercise. If you normally exercise in the morning, try doing your workout after work or on your lunch break. Change where you exercise. If you normally workout at the gym, do some bodyweight exercises at home instead. Every few months, change your workout routine. This also keeps you from hitting plateaus and causes your body to react to the change.

3. Be a Kid Again - Spend more time with your kids by joining them for a game of hoops or touch football. Help coach their sports teams or get involved in their practices.

4. Find a Partner - Exercising with a friend, a group of friends, or a spouse is a great way spend some extra time with someone. You will both benefit. Working out with a partner is possibly the best way to keep from skipping a workout. By having a workout partner, you become committed to not only your workouts, but to the other person as well.

5. Help Others - Many charitable organizations have fund-raisers that include walks or bike rides. Invite your friends and family to participate with you. You'll get double the benefit by bettering your health and possibly bettering someone elses.

Win the Battle Against Belly Fat

Many of us have taken on the challenge of trying to lose belly fat. And many us of have lost that battle. It seems like this is one part of our bodies that is impossible to defeat. Whether it's the temptation of fast food or just the fast pace of everyday life, we feel like as though we don't stand a chance.

Well, I'm here to tell you that it is possible to win the battle against belly fat. I don't think I have to tell you that it will not be an easy task. You have to develop a plan that works for you and be committed if you want to lose the fat and keep it off.

Many of us have failed to defeat belly fat because there are two major flaws in our battle plan. The first is thinking that in order to lose weight, I need to starve myself. This is the complete opposite of what you should be doing. By not eating, you are causing your metabolism to slow down. The body will naturally conserve its resources because it’s not sure when they will be replenished.

The secret to losing belly fat is to keep your body full. By eating smaller meals, more often, you will increase your metabolism and turn your body into a fat burning machine. The body will not have to conserve and will burn the calories that you are eating instead of storing them as fat. You should try to eat 5-6 small healthy meals or snacks during the day. The healthier the foods you choose to eat, the more you will increase your fat loss potential.

The second major flaw actually has two parts. Part 1 is that we believe that if we are trying to lose belly fat that we should do more exercises that target the belly. The truth is there is no possible way to lose fat in only one area of the body. In order to lose belly fat, you have to think of fat loss through out your entire body. Doing a million crunches is not going to cause you to burn fat just in your stomach area. You might have really strong abs, but they will still be covered up by fat.

Part 2 is, because we have been told for years that cardio is the best and only way to burn fat, we waste hours doing boring cardio routines. Cardio will help you to burn fat, but it is not the most effective method. The most effective way to burn fat is through high intensity interval training combined with strength training. These types of fat loss programs cause your metabolism to soar and keep your body burning fat even after you have finished your workout.

The most important thing that you have to remember is that you have to first develop a battle plan that fits you. Everyone has different personal and work related situations, so one plan will not work for everyone. Your situation may require you to prepare meals in advance in order to ensure that you have healthy foods at your disposal when it's time for a meal. Creating a schedule can help you to remember when to eat and allow you to fit exercise into your day.

It may sound like a lot of work, and it will be at first, but once you start to develop a routine it will become second nature. If you want results, you have to be committed to your plan of attack.

5 Benefits of Living a Healthier Lifestyle

Living a healthy life that includes a healthy diet and fitness, among other things, might seem like to much of a hassle, but believe me the rewards are as they say, priceless. Although there are no guarantees in life, odds are you will look younger, feel better, and live longer.

Still don't think it's worth it? Here are just a few of the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle and what you can look forward to if you decide to change your lifestyle.

1. More energy to enjoy life - Just by eating the right foods and being more active, you will immediately start to feel that you have more energy throughout the day. This can affect not only your personal life, but your work life as well. Active, energetic people are perceived as being more capable and independent. They also come across as being more confident and approachable.

2. You will be smarter or at least appear smarter- People who follow healthy diet and fitness programs are able to think more clearly. They have more energy and are often more focused on their goals, which allows them to accomplish more than others. Their memories are better and they are often more dependable.

3. Look younger than you really are - Those who live a healthy lifestyle look younger than people who, for example smoke and drink excessively. Chemicals found in alcohol and cigarettes obviously do damage to your body, but can also change the way you look by causing your skin to dry up, giving you a much older appearance. Besides the emotional effects looking younger can have, there can often times be other benefits. Sadly in today's society, looking young can give you an edge in your love life as well as in your career. There is a reason that many people are so obsessed with movie stars, models, and other beautiful people.

4. Less chance of illness - As I said before, there are no guarantees, but the healthier your body is the less chance you are of getting an illness. This may seem like an obvious benefit, but many don't really think about how their lives would be different if they were healthier. Would you have more time to spend with your family? Are there things that you used to enjoy doing that you are not able to do anymore? Is there something that you wanted to achieve, but an illness prevented you from reaching your goal? These are just a few things that are sometimes taken from us because of illness.

5. Would you be happier? There is no real relationship between being healthy and being happy, but many of the benefits can cause you to become a happier person. Healthy people have the benefits of having more energy, are not held back by illness, and often times are better at coping with the stresses of daily life.

Think about which path you would rather choose. There is no doubt that you will have to make changes and sacrifices. Is it worth it to you?

The Secret to Good Health, That's Not Really a Secret

What if I told you that one of the biggest secrets to being healthy and fit was something that you can get free? Would you be interested to know what it is? I bet half of you would probably not believe me or think I’m setting you up for a scam. The other half would want me to just get to the point and tell you what it is. Ok, it's water.

Now I know that many of you have heard this before, but most of you are probably still not drinking enough water to keep your body properly hydrated. Do you realize that 66% of our body contains water? Almost all organs and even bones are made up of water. This tells us just how important water is to the human body.

Consuming enough water is vital to maintaining good health and keeps the whole body working smoothly. Even the slightest deficiency of water can trigger an alarm and we begin to feel thirsty. I'm not saying that all you have to do is drink water and you will lose weight and be healthy forever, but there are many benefits to drinking water.

1. Water helps us eat less. This might be the most important benefit to those who are trying to lose weight. Often times when we think we are hungry, we're actually thirsty. Staying hydrated helps to keep our stomach full and keeps us from over eating during meals.

2. Water nourishes our bodies. Blood and muscles are 75-85% water. Water enables blood to deliver the necessary nutrients produced during digestion to every organ in the body. The reason that we are able to flex our muscles is because they contain water. This is why without proper hydration, muscles spasm or cramp. Our brains also require water to function well. Because the embryo needs water for growth, doctors often advise expecting mothers to drink more than enough water.

3. Water helps keeps the skin young. Drinking water keeps the skin from becoming dry and flaky by maintaining the skin's moisture levels. Water also provides the skin with nutrients. It's the secret of many women who don't seem to age as they grow older.

4. Water detoxifies our bodies. Water not only supplies vitamins and minerals, it also removes the many toxins from the body, through sweat, urine, and mucus. Drinking adequate amounts of water each day may help prevent many health issues including kidney stones & liver malfunctions. Water improves the digestion process and aids in controlling acidity levels.

Despite the facts mentioned above and the many other benefits of water, many people become addicted to soft drinks, coffee, and other drinks that contain tons of sugar and caffeine. These are obviously not healthy choices. Water is always the best choice when you are thirsty.

A minimum of 8 glasses of water a day is recommended. Some experts say you should drink more. There are no harmful effects of drinking too much as long as you ensure that you’re drinking clean or filtered water. Simply drinking more water can be a great way to begin developing good habits that will keep you healthy and fit for life.
